Đorđe Gagić ( Serbian - Cyrillic Ђорђе Гагић ; born December 28, 1990 in Benkovac , SR Croatia ) is a Serbian basketball player . The Serbian international played in his homeland until 2015, where he won two championships with the former series champion KK Partizan Belgrade and won the title in the ABA league in 2012/13 . At the 2013 European Championship finals , Gagić was also represented in a men 's final squad for the first time. In 2015 he left Partizan and played for Enel Brindisi in Italy in the 2015/16 season after a stint in Turkey .

Career

In his youth, Gagić played for various clubs in Belgrade and Novi Sad before he moved from KK Roter Stern Belgrade to the men's team of the Mornar club in the Montenegrin bar at the end of 2009 . Here he also played together with Vladimir Mihailović , who later became active in Germany . Internationally one was active in the Balkan International Basketball League (BIBL), in which the team, however, in 2010 against the national competitor KK Lovćen Cetinje missed the entry into the Final Four tournament of this competition. A year later, the team managed without Mihailovic, in the Montenegrin capital Podgorica to series champion KK Budućnost was changed, but not the way into the Final Four of the BIBL, but the hosts and eventual champions KK Feni Industries of the steps in the semifinals of Macedonia defeated . In the play-off final series of the Montenegrin championship they remained without their own victory against the again superior defending champion KK Budućnost. For the 2011/12 season Gagić returned to Serbia and played in Vršac for runner-up KK Hemofarm. Its name sponsor announced the end of its longstanding activity during the season and after finishing third from last in the supranational Adriatic Basketball League (ABA League) , the team also missed the leap into the play-offs for the championship nationally.

For the following season 2012/13 Gagić moved to the Serbian series champion KK Partizan back in the capital, which had been rejuvenated under coach returnees Duško Vujošević . In the highest-ranking European club competition ULEB Euroleague 2012/13 , the team lost the decisive final group game for a place in the intermediate round only after extra time against the German champions Brose Baskets . In the ABA League 2012/13 Partizan was able to take back the title as fourth in the main round in the Final Four tournament and also won the final series of the championship against local rivals KK Roter Stern. After the defeat in the cup final against the same opponent, in which Partizan missed the sixth double success in a row, there were indications that with the Red Star the series champion was again a serious competitor on a national level. After Gagić won a bronze medal with the Serbian student selection at the 2013 Summer Universiade , he was also represented in the Serbian national squad for the first time at the subsequent European Championship finals in 2013 , with the young talent behind Nenad Krstić and Raško Katić initially being planned as a supplementary player. Serbia clearly lost the quarter-finals against defending champions Spain, who had had a weak start in the tournament, and in the placement games, after a final victory over Italy , reached seventh place and the last European starting place for the World Cup finals the following year . In the ULEB Euroleague 2013/14 it was enough for Partizan at the end of the preliminary round this time on the basis of the better direct comparison to move into the intermediate round of the 16 best teams. In this second group stage, the team only managed four wins in 14 games in extended groups, including a home win against the German representative FC Bayern Munich . After the title in the ABA league was lost in the semi-finals, the team was only able to defend the championship against the renewed cup winner Red Star thanks to a furious playing Bogdan Bogdanović , who, like many of his compatriots, then moved abroad. After missing the final in the ABA League, Partizan played in the Eurocup 2014/15 , in which the team was eliminated after the preliminary round after only three wins in ten games. At the beginning of February 2015, Gagić forced Partizan's contract to be terminated due to outstanding salary payments and moved to Türkiye Basketbol Ligi for Royal Halı from Gaziantep . The team of the Slovenian coach Jure Zdovc narrowly missed entry into the play-off final round of the Turkish championship in tenth place at the end of the season.

For the 2015/16 season, Gagić moved to the Italian Lega Basket Serie A to Enel from Brindisi , who after participating in the EuroChallenge in the preseason now also played internationally in the 2015/16 Eurocup for the first time . However, the team was only able to win two of ten preliminary round games and lost twice each to the German representatives Alba Berlin and MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg .
