Ōtō ( Japanese 大 任 町 , - machi ) is a city in Tagawa-gun in the Japanese prefecture of Fukuoka .

history

Ōtō was created on April 1, 1889 from the merger of the Mura Taigyōji ( 大 行事 村 , -mura ) and Imatōbaru ( 今 任 原 村 , -mura ). The name of Ōtō consists of the first character of the first village - then in the Kun reading - and the second character of the second village.

On January 1, 1960, he was appointed Machi.
