The Gmina Żółkiewka is a rural community in the powiat Krasnostawski of the Lublin Voivodeship in eastern Poland , about 26 km southwest of Krasnystaw and 43 km southeast of Lublin . Its seat is the village Żółkiewka-Osada .

geography
Waters
The reservoir on the Żółkiewka River with an area of over 14 hectares is popular with anglers . The lake is home to fish: carp , pike , pikeperch and perch .
The river of the same name Żółkiewka rises in the village of Rożki , then flows through the Gmina Żółkiewka and on through the neighboring rural communities , before flowing into the Wieprz on the left after 33 kilometers in Krasnystaw .
The Łętownia brook rises near the village of Wierzchowina and after 21 kilometers also flows into the Wieprz on the left .
In the far north of the municipality, near the village of Dąbie , the Giełczewka River crosses the Żółkiewka border for a few hundred meters.

economy
Over 60% of the workforce in Żółkiewka commune work in agriculture , mostly on small-scale farms .
The weekly market ( pol. Targ ) traditionally takes place every Monday at Droga wojewódzka 842 in Żółkiewka-Osada .
There is no significant industrial production in the rural community.
The unemployment rate was 8.7 percent in 2018.
Infrastructure
Solar energy in the Żółkiewka municipality ( Energia Słoneczna w Gminie Żółkiewka project )
As part of the project, the purchase and installation of 520 thermal solar collectors in private households are financially supported. The project is funded by the European Union and the Republic of Poland . The goals include reducing the consumption of fossil fuels and energy from conventional sources and increasing the proportion of thermal energy from renewable energy sources , as well as improving air quality .
Wind power
In the north of Żółkiewka-Osada there are two wind turbines on the road to Piaski . Originally a wind farm with up to 11 turbines was to be built there. After residents protests, the plan was rejected again. The wind turbines that have already been completed are still in operation.

Sports
GKS Hetman Żółkiewka is the only sports club in the Żółkiewka municipality. The football club plays in the 19/20 season in the District League ( Klasa Okręgowa ), the 6th Polish league.

The Roman Catholic Church of St. Laurence ( Kościół pw. Świętego Wawrzyńca ) was built in the late Gothic style as early as 1770 . In 2020 the parish will celebrate its 250th anniversary.
