Žiga Pavlin (born April 30, 1985 in Kranj , SR Slovenia ) is a Slovenian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC Slavia Prague in the 1st division , the second highest Czech division, since 2015 .
Career
Žiga Pavlin began his career as a hockey player at HK Kranjska Gora , for whom he made his debut in the Slovenian ice hockey league in the 2000/01 season . After he had spent the following season with their league rivals HK Bled , the defender then played for three and a half years for HK Triglav . During the 2005/06 season, the international moved to HK Slavija Ljubljana , with whom he was runner-up in 2006 and 2007. From 2007 to 2009 he was under contract with its city neighbor HDD Olimpija Ljubljana , for which he played in the Slovenian league and the Austrian ice hockey league .
After Pavlin had stood on the ice for Ritten Sport in the Italian Serie A1 during the 2009/10 season and won the Italian cup competition , he signed a contract with his former club HDD Olimpija Ljubljana from the Austrian ice hockey team for the 2010/11 season League. In May 2011 Pavlin received a contract with IF Troja-Ljungby from HockeyAllsvenskan , where he played until 2014 with a short break in 2013, during which he played for SHL club Rögle BK . He then moved to the Russian Wysschaja Hockey League for the Kazakh HK Saryarka Karaganda , but returned to Sweden in December of that year, where he ended the season with AIK Ishockey from Solna in the Allsvenskan. Since 2015 he has been under contract with HC Slavia Prague in the Czech first division , the country's second-highest division.
International
For Slovenia Pavlin took part in the junior division in Division I of the U18 World Cup in 2003 and the U20 World Championships in Division I in 2004 and 2005 .
In the senior division, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships in the Top Division 2011 , 2013 and 2015 and Division I in 2009 , 2010 , 2012 and 2014 . Pavlin also took part in the Olympic qualification for the 2014 Winter Games and the Winter Olympics in Sochi itself, when the Slovenes achieved a surprising seventh place.
