(3016) Meuse ( 1981 EK ; 1933 BR ; 1974 TY ; 1974 VS 2 ; 1978 PR 1 ) is an asteroid about ten kilometers in size of the main outer belt that was discovered on March 1, 1981 by the Belgian astronomer Henri Debehogne and the Italian astronomer Giovanni de Sanctis at the La Silla Observatory on which La Silla was discovered in La Higuera in Chile ( IAU code 809). It belongs to the Koronis family , a group of asteroids named after (158) Koronis .

designation

(3016) Meuse was named after the Meuse ( French Meuse ), a nearly 900 kilometer long river. It flows through the French cities of Verdun , Domremy-la-Canne and Sedan ; the Belgian cities of Dinant (asteroid: (2765) Dinant ), Namur ( (3374) Namur ), Huy and Liège and the cities of Maastricht , Nijmegen and Rotterdam in the Kingdom of the Netherlands .
