It included the 2nd and 3rd Cavalry Regiment as well as the 2nd Uhlan Regiment No. 18 , which each formed into five squadrons .
In the war against France in 1870/71, the brigade was involved in the fighting at Gravelotte , Verdun , Beaumont , Sedan , in front of Paris and Péronne and at Saint-Quentin .
With the abolition of the cavalry division on April 1, 1887, the brigade came to the 2nd division No. 24 . A last change took place on October 1, 1910 with the change of the carbine regiment to the newly created 4th Cavalry Brigade No. 40 and the 2nd Hussar Regiment No. 19 rejoined the Brigade Association.
When the First World War broke out , the brigade was disbanded. The 2nd Hussar Regiment No. 19 came as division cavalry to the 40th Infantry Division , the 2nd Uhlan Regiment No. 18 to the 24th Infantry Division .
