1st Guard Cavalry Brigade (German Empire)
The 1st Guard Cavalry Brigade was a large unit of the Prussian Army .
history
The brigade was established in Berlin in July 1816 and it was subordinate to the Regiment of the Gardes du Corps and the Garde Hussar Regiment and, since 1821, the 1st Garde Landwehr Cavalry Regiment. From 1829 to 1866 the command was in Potsdam and then again in Berlin until it was dissolved in 1919. From 1866 the regiment of the Gardes du Corps and the Guard Cuirassier Regiment were subordinate to the brigade .
German war
During the war against Austria , the brigade was designated the 1st Heavy Cavalry Brigade under its commander, Prince Albrecht of Prussia . She fought on June 28 at Skalitz , on June 29 at Schweinschädel and on July 3, 1866 at Königgrätz .
Franco-German War
In the war against France , the brigade was used in the battles at Gravelotte , Sedan and from September 19, 1870 to January 28, 1871 in the enclosure and siege of Paris .
First World War
With the outbreak of the First World War , she was used in the Association of the Guard Cavalry Division and operated independently from April 9, 1917. It was dissolved in Berlin in 1919.
