Events
- In place of Soissons, Paris becomes the capital of the Frankish Empire under Clovis I.
- Clovis receives from his allies, the Eastern Roman Emperor Anastasius I the title of Patricius awarded.
- The king of the Ostrogoths , Theodoric the Great , intervenes belatedly in the clashes in southern Gaul after the battle of Vouillé . Clovis had been able to win the Burgundies as allies by agreeing to Arles and Narbonne . Aquitaine was lost to the Goths, but at least Septimania with Narbonne was able to be preserved in the Visigothic Empire, so that the Franks had no access to the Mediterranean, while Theodoric added Provence east of the Rhone, including Arles and Avignon, to his Ostrogothic Empire.
