Course of the road

The A5 is a trunk road in the southeast of Kazakhstan . It runs from west to east and begins in Aksay . After a distance of 160 km, it ends at the border with China .

Street description

The A5 begins in Aksay as a junction of the A6 , which leads from Almaty , the former capital of Kazakhstan. The A5 leads northeast through a dry steppe to the town of Schonschy . There she turns east at the intersection with the R352 , which is a connection to the A2 . The road is paved and leads to Kolzhat , from there it leads to the border with China. The continuation on the Chinese side is listed as S313 and continues to Ili .

history

The route follows the old route of the A352, a name from the Soviet Union that remained for 20 years after its fall. In 2011, when the Kazakh highways were restructured, the current name was given.
