Street description

The A8 begins in the city of Taskesken on the A3 west of Taskesken and leads through the cultivated steppe with agriculture in eastern Kazakhstan. This area is sparsely populated. In the north there is a mountain range with peaks up to 3000 m above sea level. In the south lies the Alakol lake . The region itself is relatively flat, the A8 runs at an altitude of 400 to 600 m. The largest city on the route is Urzhar and followed by the city of Makanchi , around which there is a northern bypass, which is a detour. The border with China follows the village of Bakthy. On the Chinese side, the A8 continues as S221 , which continues to Tacheng and Emin .

history

The A8 was renumbered in 2011 and replaces the old Soviet road A356. The road is not of great importance to this region as there are no large cities on it. The bypass around the city of Makanchi was opened in 2005.
