Hrádok (until 1927 Slovak and "Hrádek"; Hungarian Temetvény - until 1907 Hradek ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with 722 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which for Nové Mesto nad Váhom District , part of the kraj Trenčiansky belongs.
geography
The village is located at the transition from one of the foothills of the Slovak Danube lowlands to the Považský Inovec Mountains , on the left bank of the Váh . The center of the village is located at an altitude of 197 m nm and is 13 kilometers from Nové Mesto nad Váhom and 16 kilometers from Piešťany .
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1246 as Harranuk and refers to the existence of an older fort. Hrádok belonged to the dominion of the nearby Tematín Castle . In the 16th century, individual farms were built in the Hrádocká kotlina valley as a result of the Wallachian colonization.
