Adam Gottlieb von Klaette (born July 13, 1781 in Zerbst , † March 19, 1851 in Frankfurt (Oder) ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

His parents were Adam von Klaette (* December 24, 1728; † September 24, 1800) and his wife Charlotte Wilhelmine, née von Lohrmann. The father was a captain . D. , most recently in the “von Stutterheim” infantry regiment and postmaster in Zerbst .

Military career

Klaette came on November 1, 1795 as a private corporal in the infantry regiment "von Lattorff" of the Prussian army . There he advanced to secondary lieutenant until October 1797 and in 1804 he joined the grenadier battalion "Norman", which consisted of the grenadier companies of the regiments "von Oldenburg" and "von Thile" . In the Fourth Coalition War , Klaette fought at Preussisch Eylau , Soldau, Liebstadt and Braunsberg as well as in the defense of Danzig . After the Peace of Tilsit he was made inactive with half pay and on August 9, 1811 aggregated as Prime Lieutenant of the 1st Silesian Infantry Regiment . On February 6, 1813, he was transferred to the 2nd Reserve Battalion of the 2nd Silesian Infantry Regiment . There Klaette was on April 7, 1813 staff captain , before he was transferred to the 11th Reserve Infantry Regiment on July 1, 1813 . During the Wars of Liberation he fought in the battles near Kulm , Leipzig , Laon , Paris , Ligny and Belle Alliance . He was also in the sieges of Glogau and Erfurt and in the battles near Mayen, Hellendorf and Pirna. In the meantime, Klaette was promoted to captain and company commander in November 1813 . For Leipzig he received the Iron Cross, 2nd class, and for Paris, the Cross, 1st class.

After the war, Klaette was transferred to the 6th Infantry Regiment as a major on May 19, 1816 and was appointed battalion commander on December 15, 1816. From October 19, 1822 to December 14, 1831 he was the director of the division school of the 9th Division . With a patent dated March 31, 1832, Klaette was promoted to lieutenant colonel on March 30, 1832 and a year later was entrusted with the command of the 25th Infantry Regiment . With his promotion to colonel , he was appointed regimental commander on March 25, 1835. This was followed by a position as commander of the 3rd Landwehr Brigade from March 30, 1839. Shortly thereafter, on April 14, 1839, Klaette was aggregated to the 25th Infantry Regiment. On September 10, 1840 he was promoted to major general and on April 7, 1842 he was commander of the 5th Infantry Brigade in Frankfurt (Oder). On the occasion of his 50th anniversary in service, King Friedrich Wilhelm IV awarded him the star for the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class on October 25, 1845 . On February 24, 1846, he took his leave with the character of lieutenant general and a statutory pension of 2250 thalers. He died on March 19, 1851 in Frankfurt an der Oder.

In the assessment from 1820, General Friedrich Erhard von Röder wrote : “An extremely recommendable staff officer, active, diligent and insightful. He led his battalion with great dexterity and, incidentally, kept it in exemplary order. His moral behavior deserves the highest respect. "

On October 15, 1816 in Carlsruhe, Klaette married Auguste Henriette Ferdinande Behrens (* 1799 - November 19, 1829), the daughter of the Anhalt-Pless stable master August Behrens. The son Ferdinand Heinrich Gottlieb Eugen (* September 14, 1829 - December 19, 1829) emerged from the marriage, but he died early.

After the death of his first wife, Klaette married Malwine Juliane Christine von Bünting on October 13, 1834 in Posen (* August 20, 1812; † April 15, 1893). She was the daughter of the major and director of the V Army Corps Friedrich Wilhelm von Bünting. The daughter Amalie Auguste Karoline Malwine (* March 4, 1837 - October 14, 1908) emerged, who married Otto Heinrich Karl von Treskow (* July 11, 1831 - October 8, 1901) in 1858 .
