Adolph Wilhelm von Krosigk (born July 26, 1609 in Dessau , †  October 8, 1657 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German politician, diplomat and envoy.

Life

Adolph Wilhelm von Krosigk, Protestant Reformed , came from the Krosigk family . He was a son of the German court official Christoph von Krosigk and his wife Katharina Elisabeth von Peblis († January 14, 1653), a sister of Georg Hans von Peblis . Krosigk had three brothers: Heinrich Philibert von Krosigk , Georg Aribert von Krosigk on Hohnsdorff and Beesedau (1617–1665) and Siegfried Hildebrandt von Krosigk on Sandersleben and Gnelbs († 1669). His eight sisters were Sophia Eleonora von Krosigk (⚭  Georg VIII. Riedesel zu Eisenbach ), Dorothea Margaretha von Krosigk (⚭ von Keudel from Hessen), Johanna Elisabeth von Krosigk (⚭  Georg Aribert von Anhalt-Dessau ), Anna Maria von Krosigk, Martha Juliana von Krosigk (⚭ Fritz von Kramm), Ursula Catharina von Krosigk, Susanna von Krosigk (⚭ Lohrens Adolph von Krosigk zu Alsleben ) and Amalia von Krosigk (⚭ Christoph von der Streithorst).

Krosigk enrolled at the University of Wittenberg in 1624 and at the University of Bourges in 1630 . In the summer of 1632 he became captain of Duke Wilhelm of Saxe-Weimar . In 1634 he was taken on by the Fruitful Society , which his father had helped to found, under the name of "the Destroyer". In 1636 he came into the service of Landgrave Wilhelm V of Hessen-Kassel , after which he became court master of the Hereditary Prince Wilhelm VI. and 1638 Privy Council . From November 1642 to November 1643 Krosigk worked at the French court. From 1644 to 1649 he was envoy to the Westphalian Peace Congress . In 1649 he accompanied the Hereditary Prince Wilhelm to Berlin for his wedding . From 1650 to 1652 he was resident in Vienna . In 1653/54 he represented the Landgraviate of Hessen-Kassel as President of the Privy Council at the Reichstag in Regensburg . On March 11, 1656, he was granted the status of imperial baron in Vienna .

In 1654 Krosigk married the widowed Countess Anna Polyxena von Fünfkirchen , born Freiin von Schärffenberg (1617–1658). From this marriage came the daughter Amalia Sophie Polyxena, who was married to a Bohemian Count von Flasching.
