action

The golden retrievers Buddy and Molly live in the small town of Fernfield . Buddy is famous under his stage name "Air Buddy" as a very sporty dog who fell in love with Molly, who belongs to Henry, a boy from the neighboring family. The result of this connection are the five puppies Rosebud, Budderball, Mudbud, B-Dawg and Buddha, who live with Buddy with Noah Framm and his family.

After the puppies have caused a mess in the absence of the Framms and that, although they are looked after by the dog sitter Mrs. Niggles, the decision is made to transfer the five small dogs to other families. Unhappily, Noah and Henry accept letters of application at school, which both families evaluate together with Buddy and Molly. But the puppies do not want to join other families and run away.

Meanwhile, the wealthy Miles Livingston hires the windy winemaker Selkirk to buy the famous "Air Buddy" as a birthday present for his son Bartley, for which he provides $ 500,000. Selkirk sends Denning and his nephew Grim to get hold of buddies. As bait, both of them first catch the puppies. Buddy and Molly are able to free their dog children, but are themselves imprisoned and locked in the winery. When Selkirk found out about the puppies, he gave the order to catch them again.

Rosebud, Budderball, Mudbud, B-Dawg and Buddha are now looking for their parents with a bad conscience. With the help of Billy the billy goat and Belinda the pig, they can lock Denning and Grim up on a farm. Meanwhile, Sheriff Bob's dog, called "Deputy Sheriff Sniffer," leads Henry and Noah to the farm. The two inform Sheriff Bob while Sniffer leads them to the winery. The five puppies have now also arrived there after a wolf showed them the way. Buddy and Molly managed to break free, however; but now their children again fall into the hands of the evildoers and are sold to Livingston. In a daring rescue operation, Henry and Noah and the adult dogs manage to free the puppies. The little ones apologize to their dog parents and have now understood that it is the job of every dog to show their love to people. Budderball then voluntarily runs back to the sad Bartleby, who is supposed to be his new home. Rosebud is looking forward to being with a young soccer player, Mudbud has fun with a boy who previously only had video games in mind, Buddha helps a child achieve their first baseball success, and B-Dawg gives a boy new courage in basketball.

In the evening Buddy, Molly, all their dog children and the wolf howl into the night sky to show that they are separate from one another, but still think of one another.

criticism

"Undemanding children's film with the popular Golden Retriever 'Air Bud', who is now passing the relay staff on to the next generation."

“As if producer and director Robert Vince had realized that the 'dog can do sport' scam had been completely chewed off after the fifth episode, he concentrates here on the not very original crime story and sends five cute little dogs on a search for their kidnapped parents. As it should be for a film that is absolutely suitable for families, the puppies are not only endowed with different character traits, but also talk to each other. At most for the very youngest. "
