Alois Kaňkovský (born July 19, 1983 in Bělkovice-Lašťany ) is a Czech cyclist and world champion.
Athletic career
Kaňkovský is a versatile driver, on the road and in short-term and endurance disciplines on the track . In 2001 in Fiorenzuola he became two-time junior European champion on the track in the team pursuit (with Michal Kesl , Libor Hlavac and Stanislav Kozubek ) and the 1000-meter time trial , in the team sprint he finished second and in the points race he finished third. At European Championships in the following years, he took further podium places.
At the World Railroad Championships in 2007 in Palma Kaňkovský was world champion in the Omnium and third in the two-man team driving (Madison) with Petr Lazar , with whom he was also 2008 Czech champion in Madison. The two started several times together in six-day races . Alois Kaňkovský took part in the Olympic Games twice, in 2004 in the sprint and in the 1000-meter time trial and in 2008 in the two-man team event (with Milan Kadlec ), without being able to place in the front ranks.
In 2011 Kaňkovský received a contract with the ASC Dukla Prague team and subsequently started mainly on the road internationally. He achieved numerous stage victories, seven of them in the Tour of Taihu Lake and three in the Tour of China II , which he also won in 2013. In 2017 he won the Polish bike race Dookoła Mazowsza .

In 2007 he was the winner of the annual survey for the Král cyklistiky ( cycling king ) of the Československý svaz cyklistiky cycling association.

He is the son of the cyclist Martin Kaňkovský , who was several times Czechoslovakian champion in various cycling disciplines.
