Amelunxen (noble family)
Amelunxen is the name of an old Westphalian - Lower Saxon noble family . The lords of Amelunxen belong to the primeval nobility in East Westphalia . Branches of the family still exist today.
history
origin
The family was first mentioned in a document in 1147 with Hereboldus de Amelungessen et filius eius Conradus . The family line begins with Herbold von Amelunxen , who is mentioned in documents from 1303 to 1326.
Amelunxen , the family seat of the same name, first appeared in a document in 1072 (as Amelunchsum ) and is now a district of Beverungen in the Höxter district .
Expansion and possessions
In the Cistercian monastery of Amelungsborn , not far from their headquarters , relatives owned a hereditary bailiwick from an early age . Her older Westphalian possessions included Haus Aussel in Batenhorst , Drenke (now a part of Beverungen) and Waldhof. In mortgage possession that was official Reckenberg . In 1530 the lords of Amelunxen owned calenberg fiefs . Rittmeister Christoph von Amelunxen had a house built on his farm in Höxter in 1561 , which then served as a dean . Early 17th century belieh Landgrave Moritz of Hesse-Kassel the bailiff Rabe of Amelunxen, after the extinction of the race from Lake Constance to 1603, with the plessischen fief to Lake Constance . In Braunschweig-Lüneburg , members of Gesmold with Gesmold Castle (1540–1608), Grönenberg and Osen owned. In the 18th century, Kannewurf came into their possession in Thuringia . Later Rorup (1809 to 1838) and Köpping came into family ownership.
During the 18th and 19th centuries, members of the family distinguished themselves primarily in the Hessian and Prussian military service.
Status surveys
Aloysius von Amelunxen , co- lord of Hofgeismar and Kelse ( Kelze ), received on March 3, 1842, recognition of membership of the Knighthood of the Old Hessen .
August von Amelunxen, Prussian captain , received a permit from the highest cabinet order on August 21, 1867 in Berlin to continue the title of baron . Likewise Aloys von Amelunxen, Prussian Second Lieutenant , on October 15, 1879 in Baden-Baden and Arnold von Amelunxen, Prussian Colonel and Commander of the Grenadier Regiment "King Friedrich Wilhelm I." (2nd East Prussian) No. 3 and his siblings on 21 September 1903 in Danzig .

The family coat of arms shows two silver posts each covered with four and a half blue iron hats (Eisenhutfeh) in red . On the helmet with red and silver covers, nine silver tournament lances with flags like the shield.
Municipal coat of arms
The Eisenhutfeh from the coat of arms of the Amelunxen family still appears today in the municipal coat of arms of Lake Constance.
