building
The district court at Friedensstrasse 39/40 is housed in a four-storey functional building that was built between 1911 and 1913. The monumental-looking, plastered building was designed by the government master builder Philipp Rappaport . The house has side elevations and large semi-detached houses . High tail gables give the building an appearance reminiscent of the Baroque style . The facade is decorated with restrained stone decor. At the main entrance, in the capitals of the pilasters, there are figurative representations on the subject of jurisdiction , in which sword and scales are also depicted. To the west of the court is a prison wing, which was used as a women's prison and branch of the Volkstedt penal institution until 2009 .
