André Roy (born February 8, 1975 in Port Chester , New York ) is a former Canadian - American ice hockey player who played 556 games for the Boston Bruins , Ottawa Senators and Tampa Bay Lightning between 1993 and 2009 , Pittsburgh Penguins and Calgary Flames in the National Hockey League on the position of left winger has denied. Roy celebrated his greatest career success in the service of the Tampa Bay Lightning by winning the Stanley Cup in 2004 .
Career
André Roy began his career as a hockey player in the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec , in which he played from 1993 to 1995 for the Harfangs de Beauport , Saguenéens de Chicoutimi and Voltigeurs de Drummondville . He was selected during the 1994 NHL Entry Draft by the Boston Bruins as the 151st player in the sixth round.
In his three years between 1995 and 1998 with the Bruins, he came to 13 appearances in the National Hockey League . He also played for the Bruins farm team , the Providence Bruins , in the American Hockey League . In the 1997/98 season Roy also played in 27 games for the Charlotte Checkers from the East Coast Hockey League . The following season 1998/99, the American spent in the International Hockey League with the Fort Wayne Komets .
On April 28, 1999, Roy was signed as a free agent by the Ottawa Senators . After three years, the attacker was given on March 15, 2002 together with a six- round vote for the NHL Entry Draft 1999 in exchange for Juha Ylönen to the Tampa Bay Lightning . With Tampa, Roy won the Stanley Cup in 2004 . Although he spent much of the regular season as a reservist, Roy played in 21 playoff games.
On August 4, 2005, Roy received a contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins as a free agent . On December 2, 2006, Roy was removed from the NHL squad for exceeding the salary cap of the Penguins, so that he then returned to his ex-club Tampa Bay Lightning. On July 21, 2008 Roy signed a contract with the Calgary Flames , which he left after a year.
