Andrei Khomutov ( Russian Андрей Валентинович Хомутов * 21st April 1961 in Yaroslavl , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player and current - trainer , who during his career for HC CSKA Moscow in his native country and Friborg-Gottéron in the Swiss National League A played. With three Olympic victories and seven world and European championship titles, Chomutow is one of the most successful ice hockey players on an international level.
Career
As a player
Chomutow played for HK CSKA Moscow from 1980 to 1990 and was with CSKA between 1981 and 1989 nine times in a row Soviet champions . In the 1989 NHL Entry Draft , he was selected in the tenth round in 190th place by the Quebec Nordiques . Nevertheless, he did not go to the National Hockey League after the collapse of the Soviet Union , but played for Friborg-Gottéron in the Swiss league from 1990 to 1998 . In total, he scored 197 goals in 421 games in the Soviet league .
International
On April 16, 1980 he was in a game against Finland for the first time for the Sbornaja on the ice. On December 7, 1990, he played his last international match for the USSR . At the ice hockey world championships he was world champion seven times with his team (1981, 1982, 1983, 1986, 1989, 1990 and 1993). His international career was crowned with gold medals at the 1984 , 1988 and 1992 Winter Olympics . In 1982 he was named the Honored Master of Sports of the USSR . In addition, in 1988 he received the Badge of Honor of the Soviet Union , in 1984 the medal “For heroic work” and in 1981 the medal “For distinction in work” .
As a trainer
After working in the youth department of Lausanne HC , he took on the position of coach of HK MWD Balaschicha (11th place, Superliga) in the 2007/08 season and moved to HK Sibir Novosibirsk (Kontinental Hockey League KHL, formerly Superliga) for the 2008/09 season . There he was dismissed from office at the end of December 2008 after the club did not get past last place in the division and 20th place out of a total of 24 participating teams up to that point in the KHL. In October 2009 he took over the post of head coach at HK Dynamo Moscow , where he was under contract until the end of March 2010. In June 2010 he was signed by the Kazakh club Barys Astana . In October 2010 he took over the Kazakh national ice hockey team . At the end of the 2010/11 season, neither contract was renewed. In December 2012 he took over the coaching position of the Elite A Juniors of HC La Chaux-de-Fonds .
Since 2014 he has been training the elite B-Juniors of the EHC Sensee-Future from Düdingen. So he is the successor to his former teammate Pascal Schaller.
