Anna Stroka

Anna Salomea Stroka (born April 15, 1923 in Markowitz , Ratibor district ; † July 10, 2020 ) was a Polish Germanist , literary historian and university professor .

Life

After graduation in Racibórz she moved in 1948 to Wroclaw to and studied German at the University and graduated in 1953 with a degree in Magistra from. In 1962 received his doctorate her to the doctor and worked as a researcher employed at the University of Breslau.

After her habilitation in 1974 she was employed as a professor at the University of Wroclaw. In 1992 she was appointed professor and from 2002 she worked at the Philological University in Wroclaw (Wyższa Szkoła Filologiczna we Wrocławiu).

She researched and published writings on the brothers Carl and Gerhart Hauptmann as well as monographs on German poetry and German and Austrian drama from the 18th to the 20th centuries. In 1982 she published the tragic comedy Die Ratten by Gerhart Hauptmann. She was also involved in editing and editing several volumes of Carl Hauptmann's complete edition .

Anna Stroka was a long-time member a. a. at: Gerhart-Hauptmann-Gesellschaft in Berlin, Wrocław Scientific Society (Wrocławskie Towarzystwo Naukowe), Association of Polish Germanists (VPG) (Stowarzyszenie Germanistów Polskich), Theodor Fontane Gesellschaft e.
