Anton Kessler

Anton Kessler , also Keßler (born July 21, 1816 in Frankfurt (Oder) , † February 25, 1890 in Marburg ), was a German administrative lawyer . From 1851 to 1870 he served as district administrator of the district of Duisburg .

Life

Kessler was the third son of the Arnsberg District President Georg Wilhelm Keßler and his first wife Auguste Juliane Heim (1792-1820), the daughter of the Berlin honorary citizen Ernst Ludwig Heim . Anton Kessler studied law and, like his father, embarked on an administrative career. In the Royal Government of Arnsberg he rose to the senior government council . In 1848 he became district administrator of the district of Wetzlar , in 1850 district administrator of the district of Solingen and in 1851 district administrator of the district of Duisburg . In the last position he held office from July 24, 1851 to November 15, 1870. In 1862 he played a major role in founding the mayor's office in Oberhausen .

Kessler married Luise Blume (1827–1902) from Stralsund . With her he had the son Georg Keßler (* 1851 in Solingen) and the three daughters Therese (* 1853 in Duisburg), Antonie (* 1855 in Duisburg) and Agnes (* 1859 in Duisburg). A friend of Kessler was the journalist, poet and writer Heinrich Kruse , whose son Francis he served as a role model and personally promoted.
