Arūnas Gelūnas
Arūnas Gelūnas (born December 13, 1968 in Kaunas ) is a Lithuanian philosopher, painter, graphic artist and diplomat , politician , Lithuanian Minister of Culture (2010–2012), Seimas member (2016–2019).
biography
He attended the Jonas Jablonskis Middle School in Kaunas from 1975 to 1986 and, after graduating from high school, graduated from 1988 to 1994 with a degree in graphics at the Vilnius Art Academy . From 1995 to 1997 he studied Japanese painting in Tokyo ( Japan ) and from 1997 to 2001 at the Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas . He holds a PhD in Philosophy in English (Nishida and Merleau-Ponty Philosophy).
From 1997 to 2004 he taught graphics at the Kaunas Faculty of the VDA, from 2001 to 2002 he was an assistant at the chair for philosophy at the VDU . From 2002 to 2003 he was Vice Dean and from 2003 to 2004 Dean of the Kaunas Faculty of the VDA, and from 2004 to 2010 Vice Rector of the Academy. In 2005 and 2007 he lectured at the Chair for Art History and Theory and at the Chair for Graphics. From 2010 to 2012 he was the Minister of Culture of Lithuania. From November 2012 he was permanent representative at UNESCO and from 2016 to April 2019 a member of the Seimas. He runs the Lietuvos dailės muziejus director.
