Donatas Jankauskas

Donatas Jankauskas (born August 22, 1958 in Buryatia , Siberia ) is a Lithuanian politician , member of the Seimas and former Lithuanian minister of social affairs and labor .

Life

Donatas Jankauskas comes from a family of Lithuanians who were forcibly relocated to Siberia after the Soviet occupation of the Baltic States in the 1940s ; in the 1960s the family was allowed to return to Lithuania. After graduating from high school in 1976 at the 1st Plungė Middle School , he graduated from Kauno politechnikos institutas with a diploma in electromechanics in 1981 and a master’s degree in public administration from Kauno technologijos universitetas from 1997 to 1999 .

From 1995 to 2004 he was a member of the district council, from 1995 to 1997 deputy mayor and from 1997 to 2000 mayor of the district municipality of Kaunas . He has been a member of the Seimas since 2004 , from November 20, 2008 to July 2009, Chairman of the Committee on Social and Labor Affairs, and from July 22, 2009 to 2012, Lithuanian Minister of Social Affairs and Labor.

Donatas Jankauskas is married and has three children with his wife Audra, an artist.
