Arnleithen is a district of Pottenstein in the Upper Franconian district of Bayreuth in northern Bavaria .
Geography and transport links
Arnleithen is located northwest of the core town of Pottenstein. The B 470 runs south and west .
history
Arnleithen was first mentioned in 1520. The name probably comes from Ahornleithe, a hill between Tüchersfeld and Pottenstein , on which maple trees grew. In earlier times, shepherds and their animals found shelter and protection there.
In the Geographical Lexicon of Franconia Arnleithen is mentioned as a farm in 1799:
“Arnleithen is a property in the Ahornthale. The current owners are the barons of Groß. Since the farm estates are partly inherited and partly leased: there are currently only 3 peasant apartments there. The cents and parish activities belong to the Bamberg town of Pottenstein and Gößweinstein, an hour away. "
