history

Arnleithen was first mentioned in 1520. The name probably comes from Ahornleithe, a hill between Tüchersfeld and Pottenstein , on which maple trees grew. In earlier times, shepherds and their animals found shelter and protection there.

In the Geographical Lexicon of Franconia Arnleithen is mentioned as a farm in 1799:

“Arnleithen is a property in the Ahornthale. The current owners are the barons of Groß. Since the farm estates are partly inherited and partly leased: there are currently only 3 peasant apartments there. The cents and parish activities belong to the Bamberg town of Pottenstein and Gößweinstein, an hour away. "
