Geography and transport links
Steifling is about 4 km north of the core town of Pottenstein. Connecting roads lead to the neighboring towns and east to the district road BT 27 and state road St 2163 .
history
In 1365 the place is mentioned for the first time as "Steifflinge". Subjects of the Pottenstein and Waischenfeld offices lived there . The place name is a form of the Middle High German word "stoufelin" (small Stauf, towering rock). Highly judicially, Steifling had belonged to Fraisch Pottenstein since the 15th century . In 1829 the place had 46 inhabitants.
The district of the former municipality of Hohenmirsberg in what was then the district of Pegnitz was incorporated into Pottenstein together with its main town in the course of the municipal reform in 1972.
