Weidmannsgesees is a district of the town of Pottenstein in the Upper Franconian district of Bayreuth in northern Bavaria .

Geography and transport links

Weidmannsgesees is located 2 km northwest of Pottenstein on the district road BT 26 . Bundesstraße 470 runs around 500 m south of the village . The Püttlach , a left tributary of the Wiesent , flows parallel to this . Next to this is a campsite by a pond .

history

The place is mentioned for the first time in 1307 on the occasion of an enfeoffment . The place name means "seat of the Witmann". In 1829, 52 residents lived in eight houses, and there was also a community pastor's house.

The district of the former municipality of Haßlach was incorporated into Pottenstein along with its main town on January 1, 1972 as part of the municipal reform.
