Kleinlesau is a district of the town of Pottenstein in the Upper Franconian district of Bayreuth in northern Bavaria .

location

The hamlet lies in the open, about 3.5 km northwest of Pottenstein. A cul-de-sac leads to the BT 26 district road to Pottenstein. A little further away in the southwest on BT 26 is a part of the village that was created later with a campsite.

history

The first reliable mention of the place comes from the year 1398. At that time Kleinlesau was a desert . The place name goes back to the Old Slavic word Lešz for forest, forest people . In 1421 there was a sheep farm. In 1432 the von Egloffstein family owned the tithe .

The district of the former municipality of Haßlach was incorporated into Pottenstein together with its main town in 1972 as part of the municipal reform.
