Vorderkleebach is a district of the town of Pottenstein in the Upper Franconian district of Bayreuth in northern Bavaria .

location

The place is located in the extreme northeast of the municipality, about 8 km northeast of Pottenstein on the state road St 2184.

history

In 1384 Vorder- and the neighboring Hinterkleebach were first mentioned as the "Zweien kleeb", 1398 is only named Vorderkleebach. The place name, in the older documents "Klebein, Cleben", could be related to the Slavic word "Chlevina" (stable). It has nothing to do with "Bach" or "Klee". In 1462 the place was destroyed by the troops of the Bayreuth margrave Albrecht Achilles .

The municipality of Vorderkleebach, which was independent until the municipality reform, was incorporated into Pottenstein in 1975.
