Weißag ( Wusoka in Lower Sorbian ) is a place in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district in southern Brandenburg . Weißag is part of the municipality of Gosda , which is part of the municipality of Luckaitztal in the Altdöbern district .

location

Weißag is located in Niederlausitz in the Niederlausitzer Landücken Nature Park . In the west, Weißag borders the town of Zwietow , which, like Weissag, is a locality of Gosda, which is not far to the west of the town.

In the east follow Buchwäldchen and Muckwar , further districts of Luckaitztal. To the north is the Calau district of Werchow with the localities of Cabel and Plieskendorf . In the south, the place borders on Luckaitz , a locality of Schöllnitz , which follows further in the southeast. The municipality of Bronkow lies in a south-westerly direction .

history

Weißag was first mentioned in 1403. It was mentioned together with Zwietow in connection with the old mill . The place name is derived from the Old Sorbian word vysoky for high and denotes a high place. In 1447 the place was called Weissag and in 1761 Sorbian as Hussokej . Since Weißag and Zwietow are close together, it was assumed that they originally formed one place. After the alleged separation, the village of Zwietow was referred to as the second with the Sorbian word Dwaj . The villages of Zwietow, Gosda and Weißag are also called Plinsdörfer .

As a result of the Congress of Vienna , Weissag came to the Kingdom of Prussia . The place belonged to the Prussian district of Calau . After the Second World War , the place remained in the Calau district , which was newly founded in 1952 . On January 1, 1967, Weißag was incorporated into Gosda. On March 31, 2002, Gosda merged with its localities Weißag and Zwietow with the towns of Buchwäldchen, Muckwar and Schöllnitz to form the municipality of Luckaitztal.

Until 1937 the place was called Weißagk . In contrast to the also renamed place Weißagk b Vetschau , today Märkischheide , the place had the addition b Calau .
