from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The expired Azlburg was within the old town of Straubing (Azlburger Strasse 17).

history

The castle was first mentioned in 1325 when the Straubing provost of the Augsburg cathedral chapter Johann, known as the Goells , transferred his ownership of the Azlburg to the Regensburg bishop and he got it back as a fief . Since that time the Azlburg was a Regensburg fief. 1381 the Augsburg subprobst Liebhart der Kumer , 1428 Stephan von Weichs and before 1436 the Straubing citizen Stephan der Slegel is mentioned here. In 1445 Stephan der Slegel sold the seat to Steffen the young Hannschuester from Passau , who in turn passed the seat on to Seicz Limpeck , Rentmeister in Straubing, and his son Wilhelm in 1445 . Other owners of the Azlburg were Caspar Zeller , Schmidl von Straubing and Preu . By 1600, the Straubing Mayor Thomas Dürniz acquired the Azlburg Albrecht Preu, Dürniz had the Count of Sulz the Hienhart Castle acquired; his son rounded off the property by acquiring the Hofmark Oberschneiding . The heiress was the daughter Ursula of Thomas Dürniz. She sold the Azlburg to her brother Christian. From there the castle passed to the city of Straubing. The next owner was Baron von Siß. His widow Maria Anna Franziska von Suess sold the castle to the Elisabethinen of the Order of St. Francis.

In 1748 they built the Azlburg Monastery on the site of the Azlburg, which was badly damaged in the Thirty Years War, with financial support from Elector Karl Theodor . In 1752 there were no longer any courtyard buildings or subjects, but the negotiations on the right to sit down only ended in 1799 with the decision that there was no longer any jurisdiction in the Azlburg.
