The municipality is located in the southeastern part of the island of Luzon in the Bicol region of the Camarines Sur province , about 285 kilometers southeast of Manila . 58,849 inhabitants (as of 2015) live in the municipality of Baao on 143.04 km². The community lies on the important north-south connection, the Maharlika Highway .
It borders the parishes of Pili and Ocampo to the north, the parish of Nabua to the south, the parishes of Iriga City and Sagñay to the east , and the parish of Bula to the northwest . It is Bikolano , Filipino / Tagalog and English spoken.
City structure
The township of Baao consists of 30 barangays . A large part of the population lives from rice cultivation, but sugar cane and maize are also grown. In the municipal area is the shallow Baao Lake , which is part of the water catchment area of the Bicol River .
