Bad Magic -

Bad magic is the twenty-second and final studio album of British heavy metal - band Motorhead . It was released on August 28, 2015 on the band's own label Motörhead Music and distributed by UDR Music. It is the band's first album to reach number 1 in the German album charts the week after its release.

Emergence

In autumn 2014, singer and bassist Lemmy Kilmister announced that Motörhead would start work on the next studio album at the end of the year and that the recordings were scheduled for March 2015. While on the previous albums the compositions were mostly by guitarist Phil Campbell and drummer Mikkey Dee , the pieces on the album are joint compositions of all band members. Most of the pieces on the album are three minutes long, which for Kilmister is the expression of the "essence of rock 'n' roll", two and a half minutes are sufficient and the guitarist has ten seconds in the middle part to prove his skills in a solo.

The recordings took place at NRG Studios in Hollywood , Bad Magic was produced by Cameron Webb . Brian May can be heard as a guest musician with a guitar solo on The Devil . The piano passages in the Rolling Stones - Cover Sympathy for the Devil played a Phil Campbell. In addition, Motörhead recorded another cover with “Heroes” by David Bowie , which was later released on the album Under Cöver . In addition, one song from the recording sessions was not taken into account, as otherwise the album would have become too long to be released as a record.

The album was released on August 28, 2015 via the band's own label Motörhead Music / UDR.

On December 28, 2015, front man Lemmy Kilmister died , which led to the breakup of the band.
