No Remorse is a compilation by the British heavy metal band Motörhead . In addition to a best-of compilation of all previous studio albums, it also contains titles from various collaborations by the band as well as four previously unreleased pieces.

Emergence

After guitarist Eddie Clarke was replaced by Brian Robertson , the trouble began with the Bronze Records label . Probably because of a lack of confidence in the new line-up , the successor to the 1983 album Another Perfect Day was supposed to be a best-of compilation. In the meantime the line-up of the band had changed completely, both Robertson and drummer Phil Taylor had left the band, in their place Motörhead now had two guitarists Phil Campbell and Michael "Würzel" Burston , the new drummer was Pete Gill (ex- Saxon ). Against this background, Kilmister demanded that the compilation also contain songs in the new line-up. In May 1984 Motörhead took on a total of six new titles in the new line-up. Of these Killed by Death , Steal Your Face , Snaggletooth and Locomotive on No Remorse represented. The other two tracks were both called Under the Knife , but were different songs and appeared on the B-side of the single Killed By Death .

In addition to the new recordings, No Remorse contains a cross-section selected by Kilmister from all studio albums that have been released to date. The album also contains two tracks from the single St. Valentine's Day Massacre, recorded together with Girlschool as headgirl : Please Don't Touch is a cover version of a track by Johnny Kidd & the Pirates , Emergency was written by Girlschool.

The album was intensively promoted by Bronze Records , the label advertised Motörhead with a TV commercial as the "loudest band in the world". Promotional photos were made for the single Killed By Death , in which each band member is executed in a different way in a staged scene . Likewise, a music video for the song was shot in the US state of Arizona , but it was boycotted by MTV because of offensive scenes. In addition to the standard edition, Bronze Records published a leather-bound special edition limited to 5000 pieces.

Reviews

Allmusic's Jason Birchmeier describes No Remorse as the band's definitive greatest hits album. It not only offers a representative cross-section, but also contains various rarer titles with the early work Louie Louie , the B-sides Too Late, Too Late and Like A Nightmare and the titles of the Headgirl EP, which makes the album both for new listeners and for Make collectors interesting. Uwe Lerch from Rock Hard praised the elaborate design of the double LP with a full band biography, lyrics commented by Lemmy Kilmister and extensive photos of all Motörhead line-ups. In particular, he thinks the four new pieces are the best, they are "MOTÖRHEAD, as I've always liked: Dirty and Fast".
