Michael Burston

Michael "Mick" "Würzel" Burston (born October 23, 1949 in Cheltenham , England ; † July 9, 2011 ) was a British guitarist .

Life

Michael Burston was a member of the English rock band Motörhead from 1984 to 1995 . He initiated a new era in the band around Lemmy Kilmister . For the first time Motörhead had two guitarists, because Phil Campbell was hired by the British at the same time . Burston and Kilmister participated in a charity campaign for the victims of the stadium disaster in the Heysel Stadium in Brussels in 1985.

The Motörhead albums Orgasmatron , 1916 and Bastards were influenced by Burston's guitar playing. The lead guitarist is featured on seven studio and two live albums by the band. In 1985 he was on the album Metal Anarchy of Warfare heard as a guest musician. His first solo album Bess , on which he also sings, was released in 1987. In the mid-1990s he left Motörhead. After leaving the group, he worked as a guest musician for various artists such as Ozzy Osbourne and Warhead .

According to Tim Butcher, Kilmister's bass technician, Burston died on the morning of July 9, 2011 of complications from heart disease.
