Aftershock is the 21st studio album of British heavy metal - band Motorhead . It was released on October 18, 2013 in Europe, October 21, 2013 in the UK and October 22, 2013 worldwide.

Emergence

With the songwriting Motorhead began during the 2012 tour . Most of the recordings took place in the NRG Studios in North Hollywood and had to be interrupted due to the poor health of singer and bassist Lemmy Kilmister . Kilmister recorded the singing during his illness break. The album was produced by Cameron Webb. With a total of 14 tracks, Aftershock is the Motörhead album with the most tracks, which guitarist Phil Campbell attributed to the large selection of song ideas. The album was released at the end of October 2013 on the band's own record label Motörhead Music, a sub-label of UDR.

Reviews

The album was rated very well. Jan Jaedike from Rock Hard praised the album as one of the most varied albums in the band's history and the songs mostly get to the point after a good three minutes. One does not notice the health problems of singer Kilmister in the singing and the guitar work of Phil Campbell is convincing. Franz Tanner from laut.de sums up “Clean performance, gentlemen! Please continue. ”And notices that the tracks on Aftershock are faster than on the previous albums. In addition, the blues-heavy Lost Woman Blues and the ballad-like Dust and Glass provide variety. For Gregory Heaney from Allmusic , the album proves that the band is still a long way from running out of breath, even though Aftershock does not go down in history as the best Motörhead album. Reinhold Reither from stormbringer.at calls Aftershock a "damn strong MOTÖRHEAD album", and he also praises the variety of the pieces. For him, the ballad Dust and Glass is one of the highlights of the album, but he notes critically that the album falls into the "general MOTÖRHEAD mid-90s lethargy" in the second part. In the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung , Jörg Scheller wrote that the album “did not stand out from the publications of the two thousandths, and compared to the fresh harshness of Inferno (2004), it even fell a little. Only the chorus of Going to Mexico spreads some Let's Go euphoria ”.
