No Sleep 'til Hammersmith is the first live album by the British heavy metal band Motörhead . It was released on June 27, 1981. The album made it to number 1 in the UK charts , making it the group's most successful release to date in terms of rankings.

History of origin

All tracks except Iron Horse , which came from a 1980 concert, were recorded at Queens Hall in Leeds and City Hall in Newcastle during the 1981 Short, Sharp, Pain in the Neck tour. The tour took its name from an accident involving drummer Phil Taylor, who fell on his head during an after-show celebration. Although the name of the record suggests otherwise, no concert was played at the Hammersmith Odeon on this tour .
