The Oschersleben (Bode) station is a station on the Magdeburg – Thale railway line in Oschersleben (Bode) in the state of Saxony-Anhalt . After its completion, it was the border station between the Kingdom of Prussia and the Duchy of Braunschweig , which had an impact on its structural design.
Location and structure
The operating point, classified as a train station, is located at kilometer 38.2 of the Magdeburg – Thale railway line between Magdeburg Hbf and Halberstadt . In the station also ended railway Wolfenbüttel Oschersleben on Jerxheim and the railway Oschersleben Schoningen the Oschersleben-Schöninger Railway Company. These two lines were interrupted at the border of the occupation zones since 1945 and have been closed since 1993 and 1969 respectively. Their tracks were north of the reception building.
The existing station has two main tracks with two platforms for passenger train traffic. Track 1 has a house platform, track 2 has a side platform accessible at the same height. Both platforms have a height of 55 centimeters with a useful length of 140 meters. The exit in the direction of Magdeburg is double-track, in the direction of Halberstadt there is a single-track.
The signaling equipment is operated and monitored from the Of interlocking (type GS II DR); it is at the level of the Schermker Strasse level crossing ( B 246 ) at the exit in the direction of Magdeburg. Until 1998, the building served purely as a barrier post . In addition to the command signal box, other former signal box structures have been preserved in the station.
history
The Oschersleben (Bode) station was built in 1843 when the Magdeburg-Halberstädter Railway was being built. At the same time, the line to Jerxheim and Braunschweig was built by the Duke Braunschweigische Staatseisenbahn . Since the Kingdom of Prussia and the Duchy of Braunschweig belonged to different tax and customs associations at the time, border and customs controls were necessary when changing trains in Oschersleben. The station, designed as a wedge station, is therefore a symmetrical system that housed all the important facilities such as the flag tower, customs station and ticket office twice: in the north wing for the Brunswick side and in the south wing for the Prussian side. The station building had passenger rooms, dining room, dance hall, utility rooms and living rooms. The Russian Emperor Alexander II and the later German Emperor Friedrich III. changed in Oschersleben. In 1899 another line was opened to Schöningen . 1931 held Schienenzeppelin of Franz Kruckenberg at Oschersleben.
During the Second World War there were Allied air raids on the station on July 28, 1943, January 11, 1944, and February 20, 1944. After the invasion of American troops on April 11, 1945, rail operations were suspended for a week and resumed on April 18, 1945. From July 1, 1945, the city was under the command of the SMAD , after which traffic was again temporarily suspended.
The routes to Braunschweig and Schöningen were interrupted after 1945 and not reopened after German reunification in 1990. Until May 1946, isolated journeys are said to have taken place on the route to Jerxheim. There was still passenger traffic to Gunsleben until 1992 and to Hötensleben until 1969 . When the station forecourt was redesigned, the tracks on the north side of the station were removed; they are preserved on the other side of the Alte Post street parallel to Windthorststrasse. In 2007 a bus station went into operation at the train station .
The 5.5 hectare marshalling yard , which was once a busy marshalling yard , quickly lost its importance after 1990 and was finally abandoned entirely in 2006. From July 2014, the track systems and the operating buildings were demolished.
The imposing station building, which is under monument protection, is currently unused. The Oschersleber housing and management company Bewos announced the revitalization of the area in May 2013. The planned construction of a swimming pool on parts of the property no longer used for rail traffic was initially not implemented. It was not until September 2018 that the city council decided to build it. The dispatcher interlocking in Opf was demolished in October 2018 because it was too close to the track for reuse. The city is using part of the property to build a youth center. The renovation of the station building began in May 2019 and is expected to be completed in 2021.
Depot
With the construction of the station, the Magdeburg-Halberstädter Eisenbahngesellschaft built a locomotive station in Oschersleben. Between 1900 and 1901, the Royal Railway Direction Magdeburg expanded the facility to become the depot (Bw). The Bw was built southeast of the reception building. It comprised a seven-part roundhouse with a turntable in front, a water tower and other operational buildings. After the founding of the Deutsche Reichsbahn , it again ran the facilities as a locomotive station. Between 1951 and 1963, the Oschersleben depot was again an independent department of the Reichsbahn; from 1963 it was subordinate to the Halberstadt depot . It was closed on September 26, 1992 after the fall of the Wall. Some of the systems are still preserved.
Transport links
Until the end of the GDR, in addition to passenger trains , almost all express trains from Berlin to Halberstadt (Reichsbahn route 700) stopped in Oschersleben. Long-distance trains no longer run today. The Oschersleben train station was also of great importance for goods traffic, especially for the loading of sugar beet from the Magdeburg Börde .
Trains from Abellio Rail Mitteldeutschland stop in Oschersleben (Bode). Since December 9, 2018, only diesel multiple units of the 1648 series have been used . In the years before, diesel multiple units of the series 640 and 642 were also used. For many years there has been a free connection to Potsdam and Berlin .

The RE 11 line runs between Magdeburg and Halberstadt as a train set with the RE 21 and RE 31 lines, with the RE 21 running one hour and the RE 31 running together with the RE 11 during the other hour. In Halberstadt, trains are merged or separated.
Local public transport
The bus station, from which regional bus lines run by the BördeBus Verkehrsgesellschaft , is located at the station forecourt . The PlusBus 600 runs every hour to Haldensleben via Seehausen .
