Basedow (noble family)
Basedow is the name of the Lüneburg and Lübeck patrician belonging noble family that at least a registered and crest identical continued in 1833 ennobled Anhalt is family. As early as 1280, the Uuckmark family of the same name, which was found near Prenzlau zu Basedow, Baumgarten and Feld-Vorwerk, is mentioned in a document. The family is also associated with Basedow , the later ancestral estate of the Hahn family. Heinrich II. In 1333 a family of the same name settled in Lüneburg. In 1338 Godeke Basedowe was mentioned in a document in Lüneburg. Albertus , Johann and Bernd Basedow are mentioned in Lüneburger wills . Later the family spread to Mecklenburg and Lübeck . In 1456, the family appointed a councilor in Malchin, Claus Basedow . In Lübeck, the Basedow family became advisable in the second half of the 15th century. Dietrich Basedow († 1501), son of the Lübeck citizen Bernhard Basedow , was elected to the Lübeck council in 1477 and joined the circle society in 1479 . He was one of the members of the circle society, which Emperor Friedrich III. 1485 wearing the Collar of permitted as a sign of nobility equality. His sister Tibbeke Basedow († 1504) married the councilor Volmar Warendorp , who came from the long- established patrician family Warendorp . The Anhalt-Dessau Real Secret Council and District President Ludwig von Basedow (* 1774; † 1835), a son of the pedagogue Johann Bernhard Basedow (* 1724; † 1790), learned of a nobility renewal from the Duke in 1833 with the settlement of the noble coat of arms improved in 1552 . His son, in turn, was the royal Prussian medical councilor Carl von Basedow (* 1799; † 1854), who in 1840 described Basedow's disease , which was named after him . The nobility was confirmed to him again in 1836 in Merseburg by the Prussian king . In the 19th century, the family was able to appoint another district president of Anhalt-Dessau.
