Rebecca "Becca" Melise Tobin (born January 18, 1986 in Marietta , Georgia ) is an American actress , singer and dancer . She gained fame above all from 2012 through her role as Kitty Wilde in the musical comedy television series Glee .

life and career

Tobin was born and raised in Marietta, Atlanta , the youngest daughter of two lawyers . She has a sister and was shaped by the Jewish faith of her father, who was born in Berlin. Becca Tobin's main focus was to become an actress or a singer. So she was encouraged by her parents at a young age and taken to acting classes, singing lessons and acting camps. Even during her high school time, which she successfully graduated from Wheeler High School in her hometown in 2004 , Tobin was focused on her acting education. After she was active as a cheerleader from the seventh to eighth school years, she broke off this activity and concentrated on her talent as a dancer. After moving from Pebblebrook High School , a theater school, to a public school during her senior year of high school , she was harassed and verbally abused by her classmates there for her theater education. She later became a female spokesperson for the anti-bullying website BullyVille , whose male spokesperson is DJ Ashba , guitarist for Guns N 'Roses . Even when she graduated from high school in 2004, Becca Tobin was absent in person because of the bullying of her classmates.

At the age of 18 and immediately after graduating from high school, Tobin moved from Marietta to New York City , where she attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy ( AMDA ) and successfully completed her training there in 2005. From this time on she was able to record her first notable theater appearances. In 2005 she was seen in performances of Cats in the role of Etcetera or played a year later as Roxie Hart in the musical Chicago . That year she was also seen in West Side Story in the Texas capital Houston , where she held this role until 2007. In the years that followed, Becca Tobin was increasingly active on Broadway and was represented in various internationally known Broadway plays. In 2007 she was in the ensemble of Seven Brides , in 2008 she was on stage in the High School Musical! seen at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn , New Jersey . In the same year she was also part of the ensemble of Annie and from 2008 to 2009 in the piece Oklahoma! which was performed in Atlanta. On April 7, 2009, the musical Rock of Ages premiered on Broadway in New York City; Tobin was provided for various roles and tasks, but only acted as a substitute and did not play a major role himself. This commitment also expired in 2011. Before that, she had some experience in the film and television business. In 2009 she was in an episode of the low-budget series Wiener & Wiener .

Three years later, other television engagements followed as Kitty Wilde in Glee . There she was used for the first time in the premiere episode of the fourth season, in the further course of which she occupied a recurring role. In the fifth season, Becca Tobin was on the main cast of the series; from season 6 it was again a recurring role. In the German-language dubbed version of the series, she is lent the voice of Anne Helm . Because of her involvement in the series, she was nominated at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards in the Choice TV Villain category, which Janel Parrish won. In 2013 Tobin, who toured with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra in 2011 , appeared on the late-night show Watch What Happens: Live with Andy Cohen with Shirley Manson . She also took part in an episode of the US version of MasterChef that year and was featured in the May issue of Maxim . Also in 2013, Tobin was selected as brand ambassador for Coca Cola's new product P10 300 ml Coke Mismo , alongside her Glee colleagues Jacob Artist , Melissa Benoist and Dean Geyer , and were flown to Manila to advertise the product in various malls . The following year she made guest appearances on one episode each of Drop Dead Diva and Mystery Girls .

On July 10, 2014, her partner, the owner of several West Hollywood clubs , Matt Bendik, was found dead in a room at the Hotel Monaco in Philadelphia . The toxicological report did not produce any results that would suggest death from overdose or poisoning. Furthermore, no drugs, medication or weapons were found; there was also no evidence of a possible suicide or third-party fault. After no official cause of death was found, it was believed that Bendik died of a stress-induced heart attack. In early October 2014, Becca Tobin was the victim of a hacker attack on celebrity photos , known as The Fappening .
