The Bentreff , called Tiefenbach in the upper reaches , is a 13.1 km long, northwest and orographically right tributary of the Wohra in the Hessian districts of Waldeck-Frankenberg and Marburg-Biedenkopf .

The Bentreff rises in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district in the Burgwald . Their source is north-northwest of Willershausen , a district of the Hessian community Rosenthal , at about 360  m above sea level. NHN .

The Bentreff flows in a predominantly south-easterly direction: in the Rosenthaler area it takes up first the Fischbach and then the Rodebach, and south-east of the Eichhof residential area the Bentreff flows towards the Krimmelbach on the border with the Marburg-Biedenkopf district. From there, its cross-section widens and, after the confluence of the Steinbach, it flows through Langendorf , a district of the municipality of Wohratal ; the Lindengraben joins there.

After taking up the songs Bach the Bentreff flows through the district Wohrataler Wohra where they in the coming there from north-northeast Ohm influx Wohra flows .

Catchment area

The 48.924  km² large catchment area of Bentreff located in Burgwald and is on the Wohra that Ohm , the Lahn and the Rhine to the North Sea dehydrated.

It borders

  • in the northeast to that of the Holzbach , a tributary of the Schweinfe , which flows into the Wohra shortly afterwards
  • in the south to that of the small Wohra tributary Wadebach
  • in the southwest to that of the Red Water , a tributary of the Ohm , which flows into the Lahn
  • in the west on the river Wetschaft , also a tributary of the Lahn
  • in the northwest to which the Nemphe , a tributary of the Eder , in the Fulda joins
  • and in the north to the Nemphe tributary Cold Water .

The highest elevation is 412.2  m above sea level. NHN high water mountain in the west.

The catchment area is wooded in the mountainous peripheral area, arable land dominates in the plain.
