Bernie Kopell

Bernard Morton "Bernie" Kopell (born June 21, 1933 in Brooklyn , New York ) is an American actor who has worked in the film and television business since the early 1960s. Famous for the TV series Mini-Max and Love Boat .

life and career

After studying at New York University and doing military service aboard the USS Iowa , Bernie Kopell began working as an actor. However, he did not find any engagements at first and had to earn his living as a taxi driver. An encounter with Hollywood producer Dick Einfeld, who happened to be in Kopell's taxi in 1959, led to his first minor supporting roles. Kopell made a name for himself from the mid-1960s with recurring roles in two television series: he played the role of the villainous secret agent Siegfried in the parodic agent series Mini-Max , and in the sitcom Suss, but a little crazy , he played Marlo's neighbor Thomas .

Kopell owes international fame above all to his role as ship's doctor Dr. Adam "Doc" Bricker in the popular television series Love Boat , he played this character between 1977 and 1986 in a total of 250 episodes of the series. In some episodes of Love Boat he also participated as a screenwriter . Since the end of Love Boat, Kopell has appeared as a guest star on television series such as The Prince of Bel-Air , Charmed - The Magic Witches , Scrubs - The Beginners , Monk and Hawaii Five-0 . Some of his later appearances were a reference to his role as Doc Bricker . He also worked temporarily for the Travel Channel as a moderator for some documentaries.

Bernie Kopell has been married to Catrina Honadle for the third time since 1997 and they have two children.
