The Bistum Lae ( lat. : Dioecesis Laënsis ) is in Papua New Guinea preferred Roman Catholic diocese based in Lae .
history
The diocese of Lae was on June 18, 1959 by Pope John XXIII. established from the cession of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate Alexishafen as Apostolic Vicariate Lae . On November 15, 1966, the Vicariate Apostolic Lae by Pope Paul VI. with the Apostolic Constitution Laeta incrementa raised to the diocese and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Madang as a suffragan .
