The Bistum Mendi ( lat. : Dioecesis Mendiensis ) is in Papua New Guinea preferred Roman Catholic diocese based in Mendi . It includes the province of Southern Highlands Province .
history
Pope John XXIII founded with the Apostolic Constitution Eius Successores on November 13, 1958, the Apostolic Prefecture of Mendi from cessions of territory of the Apostolic Vicariate Port Moresby . She was elevated to the Apostolic Vicariate on July 6, 1965 with the Apostolic Constitution Regnum Christi .
With the bull Laeta incrementa it was raised on November 15, 1966 to the diocese, which was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Madang as a suffragan diocese. On January 16, 1971, it lost part of its territory in favor of the establishment of the Kerema diocese .
