Blasius Gerg

Blasius Gerg (born January 16, 1927 in Lenggries ; † May 17, 2007 in Haslach ) was a German academic sculptor from the Munich School .

In 1966 he received a sponsorship award in the field of fine arts from the City of Munich and was a member of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts . He was friends with the Lower Bavarian sculptor Karl Reidel .

Most recently he lived in Glonn in Upper Bavaria and was buried in the forest cemetery there.

Works

  • For the courtyard of the cloister of Eichstätter Cathedral, the burial place of the Eichstätter cathedral chapter , he created the stone sculpture "The Good Shepherd" from shell limestone in 1961.
  • In the parish church of St. Augustin in Ingolstadt there has been a way of the cross cast in iron by him since 1962 , which has a 15th station as a special feature, which is dedicated to the resurrection .
  • In 1965 a Madonna and Child he had created was set up in St. Hildegard in Munich-Pasing .
  • In 1966 he designed altars, tabernacles , altar cross, baptismal font , holy water basin , Apostle crosses , candlesticks, tower cross and a statue of the Virgin Mary for the parish church of St. Karl Borromäus in Munich-Fürstenried .
  • A column fountain designed by him has stood in Munich- Maxvorstadt (Heßstrasse 21, inner courtyard) since 1967 .
  • In 1968/69 he created the interior of the Catholic parish church Heilig Geist in Oberjoch .
  • The people's altar in Ingolstadt Minster was created by him in 1970.
  • An altar by him has stood in St. Bonifaz, Munich, since 1974.
  • 1975 Altar, ambo, baptismal font and tabernacle of St. Monika in Neuperlach.
  • In 1976 he created the celebration altar and the ambo of the parish church of St. Jakob in Dachau .
  • From 1978 in the Catholic parish of the Incarnation of Christ in Nuremberg-Langwasser : Main and chapel altars, altar and apostle candlesticks, Easter candlesticks, holy water basin, baptismal font, sacrificial table, altar wall cross.
  • In 1989 he designed the bishop's chair for the Regensburg Cathedral, which is now in the Ulrichskirche.
  • In 1992 he delivered a new main or celebration altar and ambo from Solnhofen Jura for the Catholic parish church of St. Emmeram in Wemding and the people's altar, the ambo and sedilia for the pilgrimage church on the Habsberg in Upper Palatinate .
  • In 1995 he created a tombstone for his neighbor, the composer Günter Bialas in the Glonn forest cemetery.
