Friedrich Wilhelm Bogislaw von Ciesielski (born January 12, 1801 in Mühlhausen , † January 9, 1872 in Düsseldorf ) was a Prussian infantry general .

Life

Bogislaw was the son of the Prussian captain Otto Friedrich von Ciesielski (1758-1805) and his wife Caroline Friederike, née Reich.

Military career

After visiting the Berlin Cadet House , Ciesielski joined the 1st Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army on May 5, 1818 as a Second Lieutenant . From 1821 to 1824 he was sent to the General War School for further training . He then worked as a teacher in the division school of the 1st division . In 1827 Ciesielski was assigned to the topographical office in Berlin and a year later again as a teacher at the division school. At the end of November 1831 he rose to prime lieutenant and in 1835 was commanded to the training infantry battalion. On November 27, 1837, he returned to the 1st Infantry Regiment as captain and company commander. With a patent dated May 13, 1834, he was transferred to the 5th Infantry Regiment on April 22, 1841 . At the same time, from September 18, 1842, Ciesielski was also the director of the division school of the 2nd division . In this capacity he was promoted to major on November 20, 1845 and on March 27, 1847 to commander of the III. Battalion in the 3rd Landwehr Infantry Regiment. In 1849 Ciesielski took part in the Baden campaign. On November 11, 1851, he came to the 11th Infantry Regiment as commander of the Fusilier Battalion and rose to lieutenant colonel at the end of March 1852 . On May 4, 1854, he became the commander of the 17th Infantry Regiment and was promoted to colonel in mid-July 1854 . This was followed by a post as commander of the 27th Infantry Brigade in Düsseldorf from May 7, 1857 . In this position Ciesielski was placed on June 13, 1857 à la suite of his previous regiment and on May 22, 1858 promoted to major general. On May 13, 1861, he was initially charged with the leadership of the 9th Division in Glogau , appointed divisional commander on June 24, 1861 and promoted to lieutenant general on October 18, 1861 . In the same capacity, Ciesielski was from April 15, 1862 to November 10, 1862 commander of the 7th Division (German Empire) . Subsequently, Ciesielski was put up for disposal with the award of the star for the Order of the Red Eagle with a pension .

During the mobilization on the occasion of the German war and the war against France , Ciesielski was the commanding general of the deputy general command of the VII Army Corps . On January 3, 1867, King Wilhelm I gave him the character of General of the Infantry and on October 13, 1871 the Order of the Crown, 1st Class with the enamel ribbon of the Red Eagle Order, 1st Class with oak leaves. He died a little later on January 9, 1872 in Düsseldorf.

family

Ciesielski married on July 2, 1828 in Königsberg Agnes Mathilde Leopoldine Boretius (1802–1873), a daughter of the field preacher and pastor Johann Mathias Boretius. The couple had no children of their own. However, it adopts her niece Agnes Auguste Friederike Boretius (1837–1872), who married Captain August Scholten on April 27, 1863, who died on August 16, 1870 at Mars la Tour .
