Bomber One
Bomber (actually Helge Steinmann, * 1969 in Hofheim am Taunus ) is a German graffiti-writing artist, designer , street art and illustrator .
life and work
Bomber One studied communication design at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences and worked at Logic Records during the main internship to obtain the intermediate diploma . He has been active as a graffiti artist since 1988 and is a member of international graffiti writing artist groups. In addition to numerous publications in books and magazines, his pictures were also shown at exhibitions from 1990 onwards.
In 1992 and 1994 he organized the hip hop jams Spring Jam 1 and 2 in Frankfurt am Main together with DJ Cutmaster GB . Here were, among others , the Fantastic Four , Max Herre with ribbon and the massive sound and Rock Steady Crew , Grandmaster Caz on.
For Spring Jam 1 he curated the graffiti art exhibition Coming out of the dark in the Kommunikationfabrik Frankfurt in 1992 , which for the first time presented numerous artists such as Darco Gellert , Gawki, Katmando and Loomit to a broad public. With Grandmaster Flash , The Sugarhill Gang and Kurtis Blow he toured Germany in 1993 with the Grandmasters of Rap Tour .
This was followed by joint graffiti campaigns and exhibitions in numerous cities such as Zurich , Munich , Paris , Dortmund , Karlsruhe , Fulda , Marburg , Biel, as well as theoretical treatises on style writing and art in public space .
The largest project so far in 2011 was the organization and design of the Leunabunker in Frankfurt-Höchst with 1,800 m² - the largest work of graffiti in Hesse. In 2015, a mural wall design of almost 400 m with a 7 m × 7 m pillar followed at Frankfurt Airport with Frankfurt-specific motifs on behalf of Fraport .
Also in Frankfurt he founded the world's first graffiti art agency Oxygen together with Kuros Rafii and Andreas Stadtmüller in 1995 . In 1996 he initiated the first Graffiti Art milk glass series at Ritzenhoff Glas and, together with Can2, in cooperation with Belton / Kwasny, designed the first range of spray cans from graffiti artists for graffiti artists. At the Art Frankfurt 1996 art fair , graffiti artists exhibited together with HR Giger , including Sigi von Koeding , DAIM , Ata Bozacı .
In 1998 he designed the corporate design and the print campaign as well as ideas for the on air design (e.g. intro, breaks) of the first German-language hip-hop broadcast on MTV , ( FETT MTV ) for MTV London .
In 2003 he received the “Committed Company” award from the State of Hesse. The association for art in public space Einwandfrei eV , which he founded in 2004, has set itself the goal of educating people about graffiti writing and lobbying for art in public space.
In 2006, Bomber One founded the artists' cooperative Absolute Graffiti with Can2 and Atom . He is considered to be the inventor of the urban art spray workshop and the professional graffiti art workshop for private individuals, companies and institutions. Since 2010 he offers u. a. Short forms of these courses.
Since 2009 he has worked increasingly as a painter of light and Light Painting Artist in cooperation with the Cologne crew Lichtfaktor and with tape art in conjunction with other artists.
Bomber's creative work shows a great variety of styles.
