Bottsand is a nature reserve on the Kiel Outer Fjord with a size of 91 hectares and has existed since 1939. It is located in the Plön district in the area of the Wendtorf municipality , about one kilometer from the center of Wendtorf and Stein .
It is caused by a coast parallel transport of sand and gravel spits with natural, beach and dune stages , salt marshes and reed beds as well as the domestic side Bodden -Flat.
The marine fauna consists of shelduck ( Tadorna tadorna ), little tern ( Sterna albifrons ), ringed plover ( Charadrius hiaticula ) and sawsaws ( Mergus serrator ).
