Ascheberger Warder in the Großer Plöner See is a nature reserve in the Schleswig-Holstein community of Ascheberg in the Plön district .

The almost 10  hectare nature reserve was designated in 1955 (date of the ordinance: April 26, 1955). The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Plön. The nature reserve is part of the FFH area "Lakes of the Middle Schwentine System and Surroundings" and the EU bird sanctuary "Großer Plöner See Area".

The nature reserve is located southwest of Plön in the west of the Großer Plöner See in the Holstein Switzerland Nature Park . It puts the two islands of Ascheberger Warder and Tempel under protection.

On the Ascheberger Warder there is a species-rich and primeval forest with a high proportion of dead wood , which has not been managed since the 1960s. The lower northern part is covered by an alder-ash forest, in whose herb layer u. a. Wood anemones , high cowslip , lark's spur , lungwort, golden nettle , brook avens and yellow loosestrife settle, and in the higher-lying southern part are characterized by an elm-ash forest with some mighty beeches and oaks. The white-tailed eagle breeds here regularly .

The island temple is artificially kept free of trees and shrubs to allow ground-breeding birds to breed. Here are e.g. B. laughter and common gull , common tern , shelduck and Pochard find. The seagull colony is one of the few remaining large breeding colonies in the interior of East Holstein. The pochard has its largest occurrence in Schleswig-Holstein on the Great Plöner See. Through the feces of birds the soil is very rich in nitrogen, so strong here Hochstaudenfluren with nettle , shaggy fireweed and Rumex obtusifolius move.
