Brandon Segal (born July 12, 1983 in Richmond , British Columbia ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who was last under contract with the Nuremberg Ice Tigers from the DEL .
Career
Brandon Segal began his career as a hockey player with the Calgary Hitmen , for whom he was active for a total of four and a half years in the Western Hockey League from 1999 to 2003 . During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2002 in the fourth round as a total of 102nd player by the Nashville Predators , for which he however never played. From 2003 to 2007 Segal ran for their farm team from the American Hockey League , the Milwaukee Admirals , with whom he won the Calder Cup in 2004. Before the 2007/08 season , the Canadian was transferred to the Anaheim Ducks , but came back exclusively for their AHL farm team, the Portland Pirates , to missions.
On February 26, 2008 Segal was given by the Ducks with a seven-round vote in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for Jay Leach to the Tampa Bay Lightning . In the 2008/09 season , the attacker also made his debut in the National Hockey League for Tampa Bay when he ran up on March 3, 2009 in the home game against the Pittsburgh Penguins .
Before the 2009/10 season Segal got a contract in the Los Angeles Kings franchise and was subsequently used in both the NHL with the Kings and the Manchester Monarchs in the NHL. In February 2010 he was signed by the Dallas Stars after the Kings put him on the waiver list. In January 2011 he was put on the waiver list again and after none of the teams requested him he was sent to the Texas Stars farm team . In early September 2011, the winger received a contract with the Chicago Blackhawks , for which he was only on the AHL farm team at the Rockford IceHogs on the ice. Shortly before the trade deadline , on February 21, 2012, the Chicago Blackhawks gave it to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for Matt Fornataro .
As a free agent, Segal joined the New York Rangers on July 11, 2012 . For this, however, the Canadian completed only one NHL game and was instead set as a regular with the Connecticut Whale in the American Hockey League, in which Segal ran up as assistant captain. For the 2013/14 season he signed a one-year contract with the Washington Capitals and played for their farm team, the Hershey Bears , in the AHL.
At the beginning of July 2014 he signed his first contract in Europe with the KHL Medveščak Zagreb from the KHL . Brandon Segal switched to the Nürnberg Ice Tigers from the DEL for the 2015/16 season and completed over 230 DEL games for the club in the following four years.
International
Segal represented Team Canada Pacific at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2000 . He won the bronze medal with the team and prepared a goal in five tournament games. He also received six penalty minutes.
