The Bratental nature reserve is located east of Nikolausberg in Göttingen . This area is characterized by species-rich, poor, semi -arid grasslands . The Bratental is home to several species of orchid , but also birds of prey such as the honey buzzard and common buzzard , deer and bumblebees such as wood bumblebee , tree bumblebee and field bumblebee .

The most important plant species for nature conservation are fly herb , bee herb , long-leaved forest bird and field quail wheat . In animals it is Roesel's bush-cricket , swallowtail , red-backed shrike and sand lizard .
Area description
The area is about 213 hectares and rises from 210 m to 354 m above sea level . The subsoil consists partly of fossilized shell limestone . The area borders in the north on the nature reserve " Göttinger Wald ".

The nature reserve is registered with the Lower Saxony State Agency for Water Management, Coastal and Nature Conservation (NLWKN) under the registration number NSG BR 047 . The CDDA code (central database for designated areas) of the EEA ( European Environmental Agency ) is 81451. Responsibility for the nature reserve lies with the lower nature conservation authority of the city of Göttingen.
